So we left on a Thursday morning and headed out of town, the girls did sooooo good. For the first hour. No, they did very good considering this is the first time we have ever taken a road trip with them.
Thank goodness my life saver Jacki let us borrow their dvd players for the car.
We watched like seven movies and the girls actually were quiet for a parts of them. We got there late Thursday evening and we were introduced to Rocky and Tank, Eryn and Scott's "babies". The girls were nervous, we have a 6 lb dog and their dogs were so much bigger.
We spent the night eating pizza and catching up. I have sure missed my friend.
The next day we drove to the coast. We spent the cloudy day at Cannon Beach and ate some delicious food at Bill's Tavern. I may or may not have dumped two full beers on B's lap and drenching Lily in the process. Made for some great memories. The girls loved the beach, well Lily loved the sand and Chloe loved it until she sat down in the water and didn't realize that she would be covered in wet sand. So instead of smiling for our family pictures, she pouted that she was wet. haha.
Saturday we spent the whole day at the Portland Zoo, it was so much fun. Definently bigger than ours, and there was a ton of different animals. The girls loved the sea otters, and the dancing polar bear. After four hours we headed back to their house for some naps.
That evening we went to the best place for families for dinner. It's called Mcminnimans and it was great. The girls ran around and picked apples and we ate at picnic tables, enjoyed some great tator tots, and even better Ipa's.
After realizing that we had to head home the next day I was so sad. Eryn and I only get to see eachother about once a year, and it just isn't ever long enough. We packed up Sunday morning to head to Ikea. After getting lost for an hour we finally found it. I was skipping as we went in, found a salad spinner and some great rugs, then Lily just had enough. She was screaming, crying, and throwing herself on the floor. So we left. Without a single purchase. I may have had tears in my eyes but we hit the road. Our next stop was Multonomah Falls. We went there every summer as a kid on our way to the coast so I knew we had to stop. We hiked up to the second bridge got some pic's and headed back down.
Seven long hours later we pulled into our garage. We are still recovering and finishing laundry but it was a success. I miss my Arn, but am so glad we were able to have a first family vacation. xoxo
