Chloe is such a big girl. I mean I knew she was growing up, but geesh I think it just happened over night. Chloe was born with a full head of dark brown hair. Her first pony tail was at 8 months old. She is seriously a hair farmer. Every year we cut a few inches off, but recently I was starting to notice just how much this little thing looks like Rapunzel. I have put the idea in her head regarding donating her hair. At first there was no way she would even consider it, none. Then over time she started to tell us that she wanted her hair cut. B was adament that she was not going to cut it. He loves her long hair, I on the other hand was all for it. He doesn't do the brushing, curling, styling of it. So of course I said lets do it.
Then we got to the salon and I started back pedaling. I mean, who really wants to cut that much hair off of a five year old. My bestest friend Anna is an amazing hair stylist and she always makes you feel special (even me) so she washed Chlo's hair and then brushed it all out and showed me just how much hair you need for the donation.
As she was doing this, Chloe looks at me in the mirror and says "Mom, you look miserable". and I was. I couldn't imagine her with short hair, but I kept telling myself that if I ever were in need of a wig for my daughter, this is exactly the hair I would pick. Then I was handed the scissors.
Yep, she trusted me to cut off her pony tail. So I did. and once I was done I felt nervous but I felt good. Knowing that my little lady just made a big decision.
She still surprises me daily, she is wise beyond her years and she is such a sassy little thing. She starts kindergarten next week and I am slightly devasted about it. I can remember her in my belly and telling people that it would be forever until she went to school. And I blinked and its already time. ahhhhhhhh, can't even type about it. More on that next week.
So she woke up this morning, sad that her hair was gone, but happy that it is going to someone else. See That's why I just love her. xoxo
