Dirty Thirty

Last weekend my Hot hubby turned 30. Wow. I met him shortly after his 18 birthday and it has been so fun trying to make every year better than the one before. 30 is a big birthday and I wanted to make sure that this one would be a memorable one for sure. So I planned a trip away for just us. He grew up riding motorcycles and is such a fan of supercross that I knew going to a race would be exactly what he would want. So we are heading out of town next month with his little brother and his wife for a weekend away. I. seriously. cannot.wait. So I had to surprise him right..... so I bought him a sweet jacket for the race and wrapped it, along with a magazine containing our itinerary. He opened the jacket, which he loved. First time I think I have ever bought him something that he loved clothing wise. and after he opened the magazine he found the paper and was so happy. I couldn't help telling him early. He got his gift a week before his actual birthday.

So after that I realized that I gave him the big gift but now how would I make the rest of the week exciting. I decided to give him a gift every morning before he left for work, nothing big but things he needed. clothes, socks, bsu stuff. He loved it, and then on the day before his birthday we dropped our girls off with his parents and headed to our family cabin. SO ExCiTiNg. We had been planning this for two months and invited our close friends and family up. Two days with no kids and no responsibilities. It was bliss.
We got up there for Friday night dinner and Jackie and Shawn and Eric and Lila came up. We played poker all night and when I say all night I mean till like 4am. Then we slept in and ate the biggest yummiest breakfast. After a few hours of literally doing nothing the rest of the fam showed up. Jake and Andrea, Chad and Nicole and Brian and Anna joined the party. I had shirts made for everyone before we went and B thought that was hilarious. We wore them all night, ate pizza, watched some races, went midnight sledding and laughed all night long. This was exactly what we all needed and I am so glad we did it. Going home was bittersweet though. Because two hours before we were getting ready to leave that Friday B called me at work and said that Chloe was crying about her ear hurting....... so I took both girls in to the peds office before we left, and sure enough they both had ear infections..... awesome. So I felt way guilty leaving them that weekend, but when we got home they were both safe and fine and feeling soooo much better. They really were the best gift for B. Here's to another great year with B. He is an amazing husband, father, friend, son, uncle, cousin.... you name it. He has it all and I am so blessed to have spent the last 12 years together. Love that guy. xoxo
