Seven years ago I became a wife. It's not something that happened over night, it was five years in the works. I met Brandon on May 28, 1999 at the Pavillion. We were both there to watch a graduation and I went with the mindset that I needed to get out of my house. A month earlier I had had my heart broken into pieces and I was a distraught 15 year old. My good friend saw how I was doing and dragged me along with her. I went, not sure what to expect and I sat down and within a few minutes a guy sat down next to me and introduced himself as Brandon. I knew him from school, he was a senior and I was only a sophmore but it was instant. We just had this connection. We talked throughout the ceremony, on the way to my car, and that whole night on the phone. That was 12 whole years ago, I remember sitting in my car on June 5, 1999 and we decided that we were a couple.

Five years later we became Husband and Wife. We were married at our church and we took a fantastic horse and buggy ride to our reception. Our wedding was beautiful and I was one smitten kitten. I had lipstick all over my teeth for the ceremony and Brandon and I both cried listening to my brother Brandon sing us a song during our communion. We danced, we cried some more, and we drove to our hotel with shaving cream smeared all over the wind shield. It was amazing.

Here we are seven years, one dog and two kids later and we are still making each other smitten. Marriage isn't always easy but nothing in life worth having is easy. We have dealt with loss, happiness, births, illness, and every day life. Brandon makes me complete, he is my balance. This year we had planned to have a night alone and enjoy the next day together alone. Well kids always have their own plans. Instead we spent the day indoors with two feverish kiddos and doing lots of laundry........ it wasn't so glam. That night Brandon made us some delicious steaks and veggies. The girls were finally feeling okay and let us have 15 minutes of uninterrupted conversations. Afterwards they picked us out some outfits and had us dance together. Later that evening when the girls were asleep Brandon tells me that even though we didn't get our night away, he had more fun staying home with us. I think that is the biggest compliment, I had on sweats, glasses and messy hair all day and he had the best time. That's exactly how to keep a marriage going.

Congratulations on 7 years! I love that how even though your glamorous anniversary plans got spoiled, you two still had a great time just at home with your girls, that's what life is all about anyways. =)
